This week Jews worldwide will celebrate the folk festival of Purim, commemorating the rescue of the Jews of Persia by Queen Esther, herself a Jew, who alerted her royal husband Xerxes to the imminent murder of her people at the behest of the king’s prime minister, Haman. Xerxes intervened, tagged Haman as the real traitor to his rule, and had him hanged for his evil scheming. One day before this traditional celebration begins, the leader of the modern Jewish State will rise in front of our nation’s assembled national lawmakers to warn America and the world of the dire threat soon to be posed by Haman’s most recent incarnation, the Islamic Republic of Iran. That this simple impending event has sparked so much vitriolic controversy in the United States in recent weeks reflects the growing mistrust and alienation of Americans for the Obama administration’s stance and posture in Middle East affairs, among others.

Obama & Co. would have the American people believe that they can deter Iran from weaponizing nuclear energy by continued negotiations with the Iranian regime, with the threat of weak economic sanctions –and yet intending to accede to the mullahs’ demand for a sunset provision at some future point in time after which Iran would have an unfettered hand in the atomic field. Given all that is well booked about the Iranian Islamist regime since its arrival in 1979 – its duplicity, brutality, mendacity, and deep complicity in terrorism and the murder of Americans — what is about to proceed at the instance of the U.S. and its European partners is tantamount to criminal negligence and a treasonous betrayal of a proven strategic ally, a key alliance with it, and, with it, our own nation’s territorial security. For all of the Obama crew’s rhetoric about desiring to prevent Iran from going nuclear, their commitment to an appeasing approach towards Iran almost guarantees the advent of a new Big War in the near future. Israel is certain to be at its epicenter, most likely as a pre-emptor, with Jordan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia likely lining up in support of that action, whether tacit or direct.

Enter Israel’s prime minister Netanyahu, who, with unsentimental perception and ringing moral clarity, correctly sees Iran to be the nascent Nazi Germany of the first quarter of this new century. While by no conscious choice of its own, Israel is today the canary in the coal mine for the entire non-Islamist world, and particularly the United States as the “Great Satan” in the ayatollahs’ Shi’ite demonology. With the decisive geopolitical tool of nuclear weapons, this mad cadre of Islamist clerics will become overnight warlords with a theology that instructs them to initiate military aggression against infidel nations — all in furtherance of the aim of global dominion and to facilitate the return of the Muslim savior, the “madhi” or 12th imam.

So, Mr. Netanyahu will mount the podium of the U.S. Congress tomorrow to warn us of this impending nightmare and to hopefully awaken the American people to the urgency of thwarting the rise of Iran to hegemonic power and expansionist designs in the Middle East. Whether inspired in fact by a cabalistic design, a profound naïveté, or simply a covert sympathy for Islam’s latest version of Saladin, Obama’s enabling of a nuclear Iran via his myopic, languid torpor and sophistry must be exposed and his plans for negotiations derailed. Almost 80 years ago, Britain’s prime minister Neville Chamberlain returned from Nazi Germany declaring “peace in our time” while waving a paper agreement signed by Adolf Hitler; his successor, Winston Churchill, immediately predicted war. Tomorrow morning, a modern Jewish prophet with a Churchillian clairvoyance will tell us of an impending world war unless we now deal resolutely and firmly with the devil we know today. No compromises, no prevarications, no temporizing, no dodging. If Iran refuses to dismantle its entire nuclear program within 60 days, subject to complete inspections by an international team of nuclear experts with unrestricted travel and facility-entry rights throughout the country, draconian economic sanctions should be imposed indefinitely, including an embargo on refined petroleum products. And, if Iran aggresses militarily in response to those sanctions against any nation, it should be forcibly disarmed by the United States and its willing allies, and the ruling mullahs deposed.

And finally, as ultimately occurred with Hitler, Mussolini, and Tojo, it should all take place without any cavil, doubt, or shame. The future of all free, pluralistic, democratic civilization may well depend on it.
